Design thinking Method

Double diamond method was used for the design of this UX project.

Discovery
Survey

A survey was conducted to gather quantitative data and identify users' main challenges and key feature preferences.

Each of the team members came up with a number of survey questions and then we brainstormed and finalized ten questions to ask on the survey form.

The number of questions were limited to 10 to encourage higher participation. A total of 57 people responded, and the results are as follows:

Interview
Persona

According to the results of the survey we came to these characteristics:

Interview

Step 1. Based on the result from our survey and the group collaboration, the team came up with the following interview questions:

  1. Can you tell me about your experience using fitness apps?

  2. Have you ever been injured while doing workouts?

  3. What challenges or obstacles are you currently facing in achieving your fitness goals? Do you need any guidance or support to overcome these challenges?

  4. Have you ever used a personal trainer before? If not, what were the reasons?

  5. What features do you find most important in a fitness or training app? How would you prioritize these features from a user experience standpoint?

  6. How do you think wearable technology, such as smartwatches or fitness trackers, could be better integrated with personal training apps?

  7. Can you envision any innovative features or functionalities that would elevate the user experience in future fitness apps?

Step 2. Each team member conducted interviews with potential users.

Step 3. Based on the Affinity Diagram, three key factors are essential for users when seeking personalized training through a fitness app:

  1. Flexible Timing (Time) – The ability to work out at a convenient time.

  2. Cost-Effectiveness (Cost) – Affordable options that fit within a budget.

  3. Personalized Workouts (Personalization) – Tailored exercises that match individual needs and fitness levels.

These 3 key factors helped us to design the filtering and labeling the cards with the trainers' information.

Task flow
User flow
Initial brainstorming for user flow
  1. User chooses the type of exercise : Yoga, Pilates , …

  2. Chooses the preferred way of doing exercise: online / offline / in person

  3. Pushes the search button

  4. Scrolls through the results. The results include instructor’s biography, education, and athletic records/ price per hour/ shows location for in person exercises /shows the instructors schedule and available hours.

  5. User chooses an instructor

  6. Sends the instructor a request for a 15 minutes free consultation session

  7. Waites until the instructor answers (may be a couple of days)

  8. After talking to the instructors and finding the best instructor

  9. They set the time

  10. The instructor’s schedule at the time which is chosen by the User is now unavailable.
